Burbs x Grit
Location: Lower Greenville, Dallas
Moving to an up and coming Dallas suburb doesn’t mean you necessarily have to subscribe to the suburban lifestyle.
A family of 5 moved from their downtown San Fran flat to a private home in Greenville. They wanted a better lifestyle, but didn’t want to lose their edge. They not only wanted to remember where they came from; they wanted to remind their new local friends as well. We didn’t only design a home. We created a bridge between 2 worlds.
The focal point of the ground floor was an open space kitchen befitting the client’s passion for cooking and hosting. With a modern black wall, an imposing industrial lamp and a massive dining table, we created a rugged atmosphere to set the tone immediately upon entering.
Alongside the ample use of cast iron, concrete flooring and large black metal frame we turned into a shelf, we selected light coloured furniture with multiple textures to infuse the space with warmth and liveability. The entire western wall was chosen as the secondary design anchor. Its massive windows allow a ton of natural light. With this project, we were reminded how a home is not only about memories, but even more so about fresh beginnings.
